While We Were Sleeping...

While we (me, Scott, and Jack) were sleeping last night - the dogs were having a party in the den. I have a BIG feeling that Knox was the leader and Abbie was the follower as they destroyed 8 rolls of paper towels. This morning, after nursing Jack and putting him back to sleep, I went out to greet the dogs and saw their handy work immediately. What is even stranger is that Scott fed the dogs about 30 minutes earlier and didn't notice the paper towel destruction???? He must have really been asleep! There is no way you couldn't have seen it! There were 8 rolls of paper towels chewed, torn, and scattered all around the den, hallway, and kitchen! I guess the jealously is beginning to show. I have tried my best to give special attention to the dogs when Jack is sleeping or when we have guests over. I have even bought them extra toys and treats. I think they are both mad about having to sleep in the den now - even though they get to sleep on the couch :) However - if all we have to deal with are some chewed paper towels - I can't complain. The dogs have adjusted really well! Back to Target for more Bounty :)

Let It Snow!

Wow - I was surprised when Scott told me to look outside this morning. I was not expecting snow - and alot of it at that. Last night, Channel 5 just talked about more rain - not one mention of the "S" word. That is Memphis for you - when you least expect it - the snow comes!

Jack's first winter weather experience occurred during the ice storm - so we didn't venture out to get any pictures. He was only 6 days old at the time. However - we couldn't resist getting some pictures of Jack in his bear outfit today. We took some pics right before Scott left for work. These will definitely go in the baby book!

Jack-wondering why is it so cold and white?

Mom and Jack
He wasn't too excited about being woken up for these pictures!

Dad and Jack - before he headed into work.

Knox - eating the snow.
One of his favorite winter weather activities!

Abbie - running around - she likes to sniff the snow and explore :)
The only downside to the snow - we were supposed to go to the pediatrician for Jack's 2 week check-up today. Now - I have to call tomorrow to reschedule. I really wanted to know how much Jack weighed! The past 2 times we had an appointment - it either snowed or iced. Crazy!

Jack's Sneak Peek Photos

Ashleigh Peak - the most amazing photographer ever - posted Jack's sneak peek newborn photos. We haven't seem them all yet - but the ones on her website are just precious. I don't know how she does it - not only is she so patient and kind - but she is incredibly talented. Scott's plan is to "keep her on retainer!" We definitely plan to use her services again when Jack is 6 months old. We plan to get some photos of the whole family next time - Me, Scott, Jack, Abbie, and Knox!

Check out the photos at:
His photos are under "jack"

Happy 2 Weeks Jack!

Happy 2 Week Birthday Jack! I can't believe that you are already 14 days old. This time 2 weeks ago - we were at Baptist Hospital awaiting your arrival. Now - you are here and you are the most handsome baby boy in the world. Every morning when you wake - I thank God for this special gift. It is an amazing responsibilty and I am so blessed that God has trusted me (and your dad) to love you! In honor of your 2 Week Birthday (and the fact that I can finally drive) - we are going to go to Target to celebrate! I need a decaf latte and you need more diapers :)

Tomorrow - we head to the doctor for your check-up!
I wonder how much you will weigh?

Rub a Dub Dub

Today - Jack experienced his first bath in his whale bathtub. It seemed to swallow him - but he just sat there and looked around. I guess it is too early to tell if he liked it or not. I think he was just wondering what was happening! Hopefully - as Scott and I give him more baths - we will get used to it and not be so afraid. I think we were more nervous than Jack was :)

After his bath - we noticed that is hair is getting lighter. It is about the same color as my hair right now. It also had a little curl to it as well! Scott got out the baby brush and tried to smooth it down - but the static wasn't helping much :) What a cute little guy!

Little Piglet

Before we had Jack - so many people talked about all the funny noises that newborns make. I guess until you have one - or try and take a nap with one in the room - you can't fully grasp the range of noises a new little guy can make! During the night - I guess I don't hear the noises as much because I am savoring every minute of sleep :) During the day - especially when Jack is nursing or napping - he sounds like a little piglet (a very cute piglet of course!).

Grace - from CMDS - came to visit today and brought some yummy treats for Scott and I. Thank you so much! I am eating some of the potato soup as I blog :)

Jack is now beginning to stay awake for longer amounts of time. He still is sleeping quite a lot - but when he is awake - he loves to look around and soak in everything. He seems to stay awake after his 8:00 am feeding, in the late afternoon, and then around 8:30 or 9:00 pm. Thankfully - he goes straight back to sleep during the night time feedings. Moms - a question for you - since Jack is almost 2 weeks - when should I start trying to put him on a "schedule." I know in the beginning - the word "schedule" means flexible - but any advice is welcome! Happy Friday!

Naps, Naps - Everywhere

It seems like everyone at our house enjoys taking a nap now. Yesterday, Jack was napping in the bouncy seat, Abbie was napping on a pillow on the floor, Knox was napping in one of the orange chairs, and I was napping on the couch. Luckily - I woke up just in time to take these photos.

I can't believe how quickly the time is going by. Jack will be 2 weeks old on Sunday! On one hand - it seems like the whole labor/delivery thing took place forever ago - but on the other hand - it seems like Jack just came home yesterday. He is such a great nurser and sleeper - which is nice - especially when our two labs bark! Jack just sleeps right on through the noise. The hardest part for me right now is not being able to drive and the lack of sleep. However - I can officially drive on Sunday and I know I will take advantage of it :) Regarding the sleep - I am trying my best to take naps during the day and to let the dusting or vacuuming go. It is hard - being a "type-A, organized" person - but at this point - sleep ranks above chores :) Thankfully - my mom has come over to clean which has been amazing. While Jack is sleeping now - I am going to go and get a shower! Naps and showers have become my new best friends :)
